Who am I actually booking with?
Komodo Sailing Trip is a curated liveaboard marketplace. The registered company behind it is Timur Adventour Indonesia (NIB and NPWP available on request). Whichever boat you choose, Timur Adventour is your single point of contract, payment, and accountability.
Do you own the boats?
No, and that is deliberate. We vet and coordinate a fleet of independent phinisi rather than pushing one hull we happen to own. It leaves us free to match you to the right boat for your trip, budget, and dates.
What account do I pay to?
Your booking is always paid to the Timur Adventour Indonesia company account. You will never be asked to send your booking payment to a personal account. Any invoice for your trip comes from Timur Adventour.
How does payment work?
A deposit secures your dates, and the balance is due before departure. The exact amount and schedule are set out on your invoice and in your booking agreement, so you see the full terms before anything is paid.
Is my deposit safe if the trip can't run?
If we cannot run your trip for reasons on our side, your deposit is returned. The specific cancellation and refund terms for your booking are written into your agreement, in plain language, before you commit.
Are the boats certified and inspected?
Yes. Every vessel carries a current safety certificate. In Labuan Bajo this is enforced strictly: a boat cannot leave port with an expired certificate, and the certificate is renewed on a regular cycle through a harbour-master inspection.
What about sailing beyond the usual Komodo area?
For routes that cross between islands or reach remote waters, we secure the proper sailing clearance (SPB) from the harbour master for that voyage. Departure on those routes is confirmed once the clearance is in hand, not before.
Who decides the route if the weather turns?
The captain, always. He holds final authority over routing and anchorage for safety. If a spot is unsafe on a given day, he will adjust the order or substitute a nearby one rather than force it. On any serious expedition, that call sits with the person on the water.
Am I covered on board?
The boat operation carries passenger accident insurance as a baseline.
Do I need my own insurance?
Yes, and we consider it essential for remote trips. Every guest should hold personal travel insurance covering their activities (surfing, diving) and emergency medical evacuation and repatriation. Standard policies often exclude these, so check the wording. We are glad to recommend suitable providers.
How do you choose which boats to list?
Each boat is inspected and held to a standard we set: safety equipment, cabin condition, and crew experience. If a boat slips below it, it comes off the list. You are choosing from a shortlist, not an open directory.
Who are the crew?
Each boat is run by its own captain and crew, most of them local to Flores and these waters. We work with operators whose teams know the currents, the anchorages, and the quiet spots the day-trip boats miss.
What is the difference between Superior, Deluxe, and Luxury?
All classes sail the same waters and visit the same islands. The difference is comfort: cabin size, private bathrooms, and features like balconies or jacuzzis on the higher classes. Each boat page lists exactly what that vessel offers.
What is included in the price?
Typically the boat, crew, meals on board, fuel for the planned route, and scheduled port and park fees. Inclusions vary by boat and are listed on each boat page and in your booking, with any extras named upfront rather than sprung on you later.
How does surfing or diving work from the boat?
The boat anchors at a safe distance from the break or dive site, and a skiff runs you to and from the spot. For surf or film trips, tell us your setup so we can plan skiff coverage properly.
Can you arrange a private or custom trip beyond the standard route?
Yes. Alongside the scheduled open trips, we build private charters and bespoke expeditions, including routes beyond the usual Komodo circuit. We match the right vetted vessel to your plan and handle the clearances.
Can you support a film or photography production?
Yes. Tell us your crew size, equipment, and how you intend to shoot (from the water, from land, or drone), and we will plan the vessel, skiff, and logistics around it.
What is your cancellation policy?
The full policy is written into your booking agreement before you pay, in clear terms. Broadly, notice given further out carries a lighter penalty. Weather or safety changes made by the captain are handled separately and are not treated as your cancellation..
